The Future Belongs to Those Who Haven’t Given Up

I was feeling led to re-watch the movie Tomorrowland. So I watched it yesterday, and I’m glad I did. There are so many themes that parallel with what is going on in the world right now.

The movie is a dystopian view of the world on the brink of destruction. Instead of fighting to make things better, all of humanity has seemingly given up and is actually creating their demise through their supported belief in the doomsday message they have been given. How are they supporting this message? Through their thoughts, by believing things are hopeless.

There is only one person left who believes that, “Even the tiniest of actions can change the future.” That person is the young heroine, Casey Newton. She alone is full of hope for the future and is searching for solutions to change the outcome.

Though a teenager, Casey is wise beyond her years. She recognizes the battle between dark and light, which in the real world has been going on since the beginning of time. She also knows how to win that battle. As she said in the movie, “There are two wolves and they are always fighting. One is darkness and despair. The other is light and hope. Which one wins?” The answer is, “Whichever one you feed.”

I completely understand how hard it can be to “feed the right wolf” when everything around you is utter chaos. As I write this, my husband’s job is in jeopardy, and he is our family’s sole source of income. This isn’t the first time we’ve gone through this or worse together.

Just as Casey said in the movie, the only way we have found our way successfully to the other side is by controlling our thoughts, which ultimately lead to our actions. So, I am staying positive—like our heroine—believing despite how things look outwardly that God has already answered my prayers and has something better in store for us.

God says, “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!”( Isaiah 65:24, NLT) He has already provided the solution, all I need to do is hold on to this truth until it manifests in our lives.

In the movie, Casey calls people like us “dreamers.” Who is a dreamer? A dreamer is “anyone who will feed the right wolf.” That means we are feeding light and hope. Now more than any time in history this is crucial. The chaos we feel all around us right now is the darkness dying and losing its power.

God and everyone standing up for the light are winning. The darkness doesn’t want us to believe the truth. So, they are screaming as loud as they can in hopes of getting us to change our minds and give them power by “feeding the wrong wolf.”

There is a remnant of God left in the earth. I know they are tired and weary from decades of battle. What God has built in you through the warfare is priceless. Keep holding the line in truth and light. The tide is turning and we are closer than we think to things breaking for the good of all mankind.

As another main character said in the movie, “Find the ones who haven’t given up. They’re the future.” Just like in the movie, on the other side of this battle, the world is going to need the “dreamers” to guide, lead, and help usher in the Kingdom of God on the earth.
